Skill and Vocational Education: A Strategic Priority of ODLC

Skill and Vocational Education form an integral component of all educational initiatives undertaken by the Open and Distance Learning Council (ODLC). In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, ODLC places strong emphasis on skill development to empower the youth with industry-relevant competencies, enabling them to achieve economic self-reliance and live with dignity.

Consistent with its foundational mandate, ODLC has prioritized the integration of Skill Education within the framework of open and distance learning, as reflected in its commitment to offering a broad spectrum of vocational programs. This approach ensures that education becomes more inclusive, accessible, and aligned with the evolving demands of the workforce.

Objective of ODLC’s Skill Education Programe

The core objective of ODLC’s Skill Education Programe is to develop a skilled, employable, middle-level workforce capable of meeting the growing demands of various sectors. By offering practical, placement-oriented vocational courses, ODLC aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, thereby reducing unemployment and contributing to national development.

Integration of Vocational and Academic Subjects

To enhance the career-readiness of learners, ODLC allows a flexible combination of vocational and academic subjects. This dual-track model enables students to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, improving their employability across multiple domains. Learners may select vocational subjects from the list below, in accordance with the academic regulations and subject combination guidelines prescribed by ODLC
