The Open and
Distance Learning
(ODL) Model

The Open and Distance Learning (ODL) model adopted by the Open and Distance Learning Council (ODLC) aligns with the national policy framework and is fully valid for pursuing further education and for employment in both government and private sectors across India.

As per official guidelines and notifications issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD, Govt. of India), and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), open and distance learning is recognized as a legitimate mode of education, equivalent to formal schooling and regular mode for academic and professional purposes.
